How We Make Money
Who pays for our work
We are paid by families who choose our full Visit Reports or Family Shortlist service. Care homes pay us nothing. Both family services are optional, with one-time prices shown before purchase. There are no subscriptions or hidden costs.
What families can do for free
Searching, comparing, and connecting are completely free. This includes:
- • Searching and browsing care homes
- • Saving and comparing facilities
- • Family collaboration tools
- • Seeing which homes are verified and their quality ratings
- • Reading family reviews
- • Using our inquiry system
- • Getting support from our team
You do not need to buy a report or the Family Shortlist service to browse, inquire or arrange your own visit. Care-home accommodation and care fees are separate; confirm them directly with the home.
Care homes pay us nothing
Visits and listings are free for care homes. There is no commission or other fee when a family chooses a home. A home cannot pay for a better position, a better rating, a recommendation or a place on a shortlist.
Why this matters to families: when a directory is paid by the homes it lists, every recommendation carries a question — is this the best home, or the one that pays most? We removed the question by removing the payment.
Families pay only for two optional services
1. The Family Shortlist service
Families can ask us to research 3–5 care homes for their parent, visit each approved home in person, and report what we found — the real monthly costs, what the records show, and what we could not get answered. It is a one-time fee, paid before the work starts, with the price shown up front.
Visits inside a home depend on each home granting access. If access is refused, we tell the family and provide a clearly labelled external assessment.
Why this works for families: you are the client. The homes we visit are not, which is why the report includes the concerns as well as the good news.

Where a full Visit Report is available, families can buy access to the detailed findings, photographs and videos. It is a one-time purchase, with the price and access details shown before payment. The report helps families prepare questions for their own visit.
Why this works for families: because families help fund the visits, our reports work for you — a care home can't pay to look better in them.
