St. Joseph's Home for the Aged, Thrissur

St. Joseph's Old Age Home is a residential home for the aged, the infirm and the destitute women of society, without any discrimination of caste or creed. The institution was established on 8th December 1972 at Pullazhi, around 7 km from Thrissur city, to provide care to elderly destitute women.

It is a registered institution under the Board of Control for Orphanages and Other Charitable Homes, and runs as a pure charitable institution with financial aid from the State Government, HelpAge India and local benefactors. Around 130 elderly women live in the home, admitted through family members or social workers with a recommendation letter from a parish vicar or local authority. A Day Care home in the same compound, set up with help from the Rotary Club, looks after about 20 elderly people from the surrounding village.

The home is managed by an administrative board under the Archdiocese of Thrissur (Patron: the Archbishop of Thrissur), with the Director resident at Pullazhi. Its objectives focus on the social, physical, mental and spiritual care of aged and infirm women and promoting their healthcare, housing and dignity.
